Oulainen, the centre of wellbeing services

The local health care, medical care and rehabilitation centres form a comprehensive health and wellbeing service unit, which is supported by the local health care education.

The social service municipal board is responsible for the management of the social services. The board arranges the social and health care focused on the inhabitants of the municipality. Specialized medical care is provided by the Hospital District of Northern Ostrobothnia.

The Social Care Law requires the municipality to take responsibility for arranging common social services. The services include social work, youth and family clinics, home services, living services, institutional care, family care, caregiver support. In addition, the municipality is responsible for arranging those social services that are mentioned in the law, which have specific laws enacted.

The purpose of social services is to promote and maintain the social safety and the working order of individual persons, families and communities.
